Which non-US companies are hot, and how hot, and why

November 24, 2010 |

In Digestville, with the Americans safely tucked away for the Thanksgiving Day holiday, we have an unusual opportunity we simply can’t resist, to look at all the non-US companies that are getting traction in the 50 Hottest Companies in Bioenergy competition, and have more of an in-depth look at the hottest of the hot.

We’ve seen some strong balloting this year for international companies, with six of the top 20 companies in balloting so far coming from outside of the US (compared to four last year). And its fair to say that balloting from our invited international selectors generally broadens the geography, compared to the US-centric reader polling.

Here are the 13 non-US companies that have slotted into the Top 50 in subscriber voting to date.

Novozymes – #5 in the balloting to date (#10 last year)
Genencor – #6 (#26 last year)
BP Biofuels – #12 (#4 last year)
Shell – #13 (#27 last year)
Petrobras – #14 (#18 last year)
Abengoa Bioenergy – #17 (#15 last year)
Iogen – #26 (#23 last year)
Enerkem – #31 (#25 last year)
Cosan – #34 (unranked last year)
Neste Oil – #39 (#40 last year)
Praj Industries – #43 (#39 last year)
Syngenta – #44 (#33 last year)
LanzaTech – #47 (#41 last year)
