Biodiesel frozen out of EU by indirect emissions models?

In Belgium, new research from the European Commission leaked to the press shows that biodiesel isn’t likely to survive the latest upset in greenhouse gas calculations when indirect land use change are taken into consideration. New data is showing an indirect one-off release of around 1,000 megatonnes of carbon dioxide, according to Reuters. An IFPRI report commissioned by the EC shows that half the gains expected from shifting to renewables from fossil fuels could disappear because of biodiesel use.
