Carbon capture program starts at ADM ethanol plant

In Illinois, construction has begun on the $207.5 million carbon capture and storage project at ADM’s ethanol plant in Decatur, near to the existing smaller CCS facility on site. The Dept. of Energy says the project will capture 1 million tons of CO2 annually once it comes online in 2013. The project was partly funded by government support amounting to $141 million while the rest comes from private financing.
