Iowa Renewable Fuels Association says Huntsman ethanol policy influenced by stake in MTBE, ethnaol's rival

November 7, 2011 |

In Washington, presidential candidate Jon Huntsman has been receiving criticism from the media regarding his no-subsidy energy policy. On Tuesday, Hunstman said in a speech in Nevada, “I will systemically begin to eliminate every subsidy for energy companies, whether it be oil, natural gas, wind or solar.”– a risky move with the Iowa caucuses coming up.

Indeed, Monte Shaw, the director of Iowa Renewable Fuels Association said “The problem with Huntsman is, he is skipping over the part of the solution, just like his campaign is skipping over Iowa. Why else would he overlook one of the most proven solutions to that problem… we can up with no other solution other than his influence in the MTBE industry.”
