Central Minnesota Ethanol Co-op working to set up water treatment plant

July 23, 2013 |

In Minnesota, the Central Minnesota Ethanol Co-op is negotiating with the city of Little Falls to go forward with a $1.2 million wastewater treatment facility that would take responsibility for treating the plant’s required 100,000 gallons of water per day. That’s about a third of the city’s daily water use, and a cost of $1,000 a day to the company. CMEC has been trying to secure a grant to help off-set costs for the facility but the process has been delayed, so it is trying to work directly with the city to use local funds to offset the costs and get the project moving. It could be completed in four months from project launch.
