Nebraska landfill supplying up to 12% of Siouxland Ethanol’s gas needs

July 29, 2013 |

In Nebraska, the LP Gill landfill in Jackson is supplying methane to the Siouxland Ethanol plant a mile down the road, providing about 10% to 12% of the gas needed for heat and steam in the ethanol production process. The gas is collected in a pipe in the middle of the garbage pile, then it is cleaned and compressed before being sent down the pipeline to the ethanol plant.
