Brazil’s NNE ethanol imports from center-south up 65% in January

March 16, 2016 |

In Brazil, with the North-Northeast region exporting ethanol to Europe and production falling short of increased consumption, it has had to supply its own demand from the Center-South region to the tune of 135.5 million liters in January, up 65% on the year but down 4% from December. Nearly 28 million liters of the total was hydrous, double the January 2015 volume, while the remaining majority of the volume was anhydrous. The region has reduced its imports from the US, which it has done since 2011, to 61.7 million liters during January and February, down 41% on the year.
