US ethanol exports rose more than 24% in January

In Washington, the US Department of Agriculture said January ethanol exports rose 24.2% on the month and on the year to 461 million liters. Exports were the strongest January on record and the third highest volume since December 2011. Of the total, 48% of the volume went to Brazil while the remainder went to Canada and India. China has reduced its imports to almost nothing following implementation of a 30% import duty. Biodiesel exports were up 2% at just over 6,000 metric tons split between Canada and Peru. DDGS exports jumped 17% on the year to 937,628 metric tons with 19% going to Mexico, followed by Turkey and China, even though China’s imports were down 60% on the year.
