Hawaiian oil refinery looking towards biofuel possibilities

March 8, 2017 |

In Hawaii, the state’s largest oil refinery is testing different biofuels to help determine if it will participate in supporting the development of local biofuel production, and with whom. The company is in talks with various partners looking at different feedstocks, all at an early stage but hopes are that something could be agreed this year. The 94,000 barrel per day refinery imports all of its petroleum so would look to reduce those imports by using domestically produced fuel as well.
