Scania India sees biodiesel as short-term solution while EVs mature

In India, the head of Scania India told ETAuto that although electric vehicles are the long-term solution for heavy-duty transport, biodiesel provides short-term solutions for cleaner air and reducing the national oil import bill now. While the company is running trials of its electric buses in the country, a lot of technological development and maturity needs to take place before it can successfully provide the opportunities that biodiesel currently provide. What’s more, biodiesel supports rural development whereas EVs do not, he said.
