In China, Platts reports that despite the higher tariffs on US undenatured ethanol imposed to counterbalance the latest round of tariffs in US President Trump’s trade war, the market doesn’t expect there to be much impact because the previous 65% tariffs had already closed any possible import window. The latest tariff increase announced this week was 10%. US ethanol imports have been impossible for the better of 2018. US ethanol prices continue to fall in the meantime, have knock on effects for other destinations such as the Philippines that are key US ethanol importers.
