Mato Grosso 2019/20 second corn crop seen at 32.4 million tons

In Brazil, Platts reports that Instituto Mato-Grossense de Economia Agropecuria data shows its corn estimate for the second corn crop, the 2019/20 Safrinha corn, 32.44 million metric tons, about 820,000 tons higher than its first forecast, with increased ethanol production from corn a major driver not only for the season but also for farmers to expand planted area next season as well. Between the current season and last, farmers expanded corn area by 200,000 hectares.
