Newport Biodiesel helping to keep restaurants open through community collaboration

In Rhode Island, local press reports that Newport Biodiesel has taken a different take on helping the community through the COVID-19 crisis by fundraising to buy gift certificates for local restaurants offering delivery to homebound seniors. Newport Biodiesel collects used cooking oil for biodiesel production, but with many restaurants closed to sheltering in place, there is a lot less UCO available. But by working with local restaurants and the community to create demand and ensure restaurants stay open, it’s a win-win for everyone.
