Grassley says Trump at risk of losing Midwest voters if EPA approves “gap” requests

June 17, 2020 |

In Washington, Reuters reports that Senator Chuck Grassley has clearly said that if the Environmental Protection Agency chooses to accept the “gap” waiver requests that have been submitted by oil refiners, then President Trump will risk losing voters in Iowa and the Midwest. He said it was concerning that the EPA hadn’t rejected the requests already, but that if they were accepted that the agency would again lose in court. The EPA is waiting for the Department of Energy to make recommendations on the “gap” waiver requests before making any decisions.
