In Zimbabwe, Bulawayo 24 reports that a member of Parliament is going to court to fight the national 20% ethanol blending mandate that still supports a supply monopoly for the controversial businessman Billy Rautenbach’s Green Fuel. The complaint claims that Green Fuel is paid $1.30 per liter of ethanol whereas the global average is around 60 cents per liter. The country currently has the highest fuel prices in Southern Africa and has suffered from fuel shortages in recent years. The energy minister and national energy regulator have also been named in the complaint.
