Ethanol crush margins squeezed back to 7 cents per gallon

July 21, 2020 |

In Iowa, Platts reports that ethanol crush margins have been squeezed back into single digits as of just over 7 cents per gallons as ethanol prices slump with Chicago Argo ethanol at $1.2430/gal on July 20. Corn prices have also been falling but at a slower rate than ethanol, tightening the crush margin. Ethanol production has been steadily increasing as the US economy tries to pull out of pandemic protection measures with the expectation people will be back on the road en masse.
