In Brazil, the country’s Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels Agency (ANP) said that the country’s 73th complementary biodiesel auction contracted 72.75 million liters (19.21m gallons) in total. Brazil’s biodiesel auctions are organized to ensure the steady mandatory increase of biodiesel in diesel sold at the pump.

The average price of BRL 4.578 per liter achieved in the tender resulted in a final contract value of around BRL 333.05 million (USD 63.9m/EUR 55m). In all, 24 producers offered some 75.45 million litres in the tender.

Of the total volume sold in the tender, 94.50% comes from producers with the Social Fuel Seal, awarded under a government incentive to source raw materials from small farms. The 73th complementary tender covers domestic biofuel supply from August 1 to August 31, 2020.
