#3 Study finds Gen-Z not on board with cultured meat

In Australia, researchers have found that Gen-Z is wary of lab-grown meat despite reporting concerns for personal health, the environment, and animal welfare. Usually defined as those born between 1995 and 2012, researchers at University of Sydney and Curtin University found that almost three-quarters of Gen-Z report not being “ready” for meat grown in the lab.

“Generation Z are also unsure whether cultured meat is actually more environmentally sustainable, described by several respondents as potentially ‘resource consuming’ and not being ‘environmentally friendly,’” said lead study author Dr. Diana Bèguèna, of University of Sydney’s School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. Almost 20% see cultured meat as heavily processed, but 28% say it could be acceptable or possibly acceptable if the technology was improved.
