China looking at 4% ethanol blending “in the long term”

In China, the US Grains Council told Platts it expects Chinese ethanol blending to reach 4% blending “in the long term”, which is a major turnaround from its 2017 announcement that it would reach 10% blending by 2020. Though the Chinese government gave no explanation for suspending the plan earlier this year, the expectation is that the global pandemic and the resulting low fuel prices paired with low fuel demand was a key driver, together with lower domestic corn stocks.
