Port of Rotterdam halted biofuels sales data due to questions about accuracy

November 2, 2020 |

In the Netherlands, Ship and Bunker reports that the Port of Rotterdam stopped publishing biofuel sales data due to concerns about accuracy in reporting. It used to publish the data quarterly by the Q1 2020 figure showed biofuel sales accounting for 11% of overall fuel oil sales for the period, which is likely much higher than the real number, especially since the quarter before only saw 3%. The Port is introducing a new bunker licensing scheme in February, however, which should help to build confidence around the data it receives and may be able to begin publishing again afterwards.
