In Romania, Economica.net reports the country’s main energy player OMV Petrom is looking to invest $291 million in a second-generation ethanol plant, allowing it to secure 35% of the total investment in European grant funding. The facility is expected to be co-located or located nearby the company’s existing oil extraction and refining facilities in Prahova county. This would be the second advanced biofuel facility in the country following the 50,000 metric ton per year Clariant sunliquid facility currently under construction.
