April 29, 2021 |

In India, according to the Times of India newspaper, the Dharashiv Sugar Mill in Osmanabad district of Maharashtra is the first in the country to trial the production of medical oxygen from ethanol production in the face of the growing COVID-19 pandemic in the country. Demand for medical oxygen has soared as cases have gone out of control and deaths are piling up like never before seen since the pandemic began. In the next week, the first 10 metric tons of medical oxygen is expected to be delivered. If successful, the facility has the capacity to produce up to 20 metric tons per day which would cover the district’s demand of 18 tons per day.
