CerradinhoBio’s Newmille to build $196M corn-based ethanol plant in Mato Grosso do Sul

August 2, 2021 |

In Brazil, Renewables Now reports CerradinhoBio’s Newmille plans to build an $196 million corn-based ethanol plant in Maracaju, Mato Grosso do Sul that will produce 510 million liters annually. Construction is expected to start as soon as next year with environmental studies and permitting ongoing the rest of this year. The new facility should be commissioned around August 2023. Corn-based ethanol production, especially in Mato Grosso do Sul, is a growing trend thanks to expensive logistics that makes corn-based ethanol more competitive than sugar-based ethanol in the center of the country.
