SWISS aims to reach a target of 11% sustainably-sourced fuel by 2030

In Switzerland, local newspaper SonntagsZeitung reported that local airline SWISS’s CEO Dieter Vranckx said that the carrier’s goal was to reach a target of 11% sustainably-sourced fuel by 2030.

The executive said that this goal was part of the company’s initiative of cutting CO2 emissions by 50% by 2030, and becoming climate-neutral by 2050.

He added that the firm will start using solar fuels in its aircrafts next year.

Vranckx also noted that the volumes of solar fuel used by the airline would remain small for the near future, mainly due to limited production capacity and high prices, “it’s not realistic to progress more quickly”, Vranckx said.
