UK Transport Minister ratifies government support for SAF development

November 23, 2022 |

In the U.K, TTG reported that the UK’s new transport minister Baroness Charlotte Vere has denied suggestions that the government is moving at a slow pace on developing sustainable aviation fuel.

The official noted that five SAF plants would be under construction by 2025 and acknowledged there would need to be support for SAF, which is more expensive to produce compared to conventional fuel.

Vere also indicated she was not in favor of large-scale government support – as in the US – which has pledged $4.3 billion to support the SAF development.

“I don’t think we want to follow the US model,” Vere added. “The US model is short-term, I would look at something long-term.”
