Iberia highlights challenges for airlines to get SAF

January 4, 2023 |

In Spain, Preferente reported that Teresa Parejo, Spanish airline Iberia’s director of sustainability, said that main problem that airlines are facing in terms of sustainability is that “there is not enough production of SAF”. “Currently, it is estimated that there is 0.1% of what is needed worldwide and the price is very high,” the executive was quoted as saying. “It is true that progress is being made, because there is a mandate in Europe so that in 2025 there will be 2% and in 2030 5%, to reach 63% in 2050. Although the European Parliament is pressing more so that they are 100%”, she added.
