In Japan, Nippon.com reported that Japanese firms are expected to start work this year to produce sustainable aviation fuel from used cooking oil. According to the report, major overseas renewable fuel producers are already moving to procure high-quality Japanese used cooking oil. The report also noted that the Japanese government aims to replace 10% of aviation fuel used by local airlines with SAF by 2030. “Making SAF domestically is essential for sustainable procurement,” an executive at a Japanese airline reportedly said.
