March 7, 2023 |

In Brazil, Reuters reports data from corn-based ethanol association Unem shows the country will produce 6 billion liters of ethanol from corn in the 2023/24 season kicking off on April 1, an increase of more than 36% from last season. As such, corn-based ethanol could account for 19% of the season’s total production which is heavily weighted towards sugarcane. That is a 1,053% increase over 2017 production when the fuel first was distilled from corn in the country. Current capacity means that producers can distill the same volume as in 2017 in just 31 days.
