Alberta government approves construction of biofuels plant in Calgary

December 16, 2023 |

In Canada, Calgary Herald reported that the government of Alberta approved a biofuels plant on southeast Calgary.

The project, slated to open in 2026, is expected to approximately triple the amount of renewable natural gas (RNG) on Canada’s grid, according to the report.

Future Energy Park will use non-food grade waste to produce RNG that’s fed directly into a nearby natural gas mainline. It will also produce ethanol and methane-reducing cattle feed, the report added.

Clear energy firm GIP announced it had received approval from Alberta’s Ministry of Environment and Protected Areas to proceed with the construction of the plant.

More on the story.
