Petrobras contracts HEFA techology for renewable diesel, SAF

In Bulgaria, Renewable News reported that Brazilian state-run oil and gas company Petrobras has contracted a technology for the production of SAF and renewable diesel.

According to the report, the company plans to adopt this technology in its first biorefining plant.

The deal with Honeywell UOP concerns the Hydroprocessed Esters and Fatty Acids (HEFA) technology. It will allow Petrobras to produce renewable fuels at the Presidente Bernardes Refinery (RPBC) in Cubatao municipality, Sao Paulo state, using soybean oil and beef tallow. The facility’s HEFA unit will have the capacity to process 2,700 cubic meters of vegetable oils and animal fats per day, according to the report.
