Low Carbon and Agrivert create JV to develop, build and operate European biogas projects

March 27, 2024 |

In the UK, Low Carbon and Agrivert have formed a Joint Venture (JV) named Beacon to develop, build and operate biogas and biomethane projects across Europe.

Beacon combines the expertise of two best in class players in the renewable energy sector. Low Carbon is an independent power producer (IPP) who have developed more than 2 GW of renewable energy capacity to date with a further 15 GW of projects in development. Agrivert has over 30 years’ experience and is considered one of Europe’s leading companies that design, build and operate anaerobic digestion facilities.

The feedstock for the Beacon portfolio will predominantly be manure, food waste and agricultural residues to maximize the sustainability of the platform and help reduce global emissions of CO2 and methane. The biogas produced will be refined into biomethane and used in gas form or converted into electricity.

Beacon’s ambition is to deliver a portfolio of world class, utility scale biomethane and biogas plants across Europe by 2030.
