Malaysia’s Bionas signs $2.5 billion MOU for jatropha project in Kaduna state

In Nigeria, Malaysia’s Bionas has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Kaduna state government to develop a $2.5 billion jatropha project with the aim of producing aviation biofuel. The company first announced its intentions for the project in October 2016 and says the project should already be online in two years. An additional waste-to-energy component will produce 280MW of power. As many as 200,000 Nigerians are meant to participate in the training and technology transfer aspects of the projects.
