Brazilian hydrous ethanol prices break record on triple drivers

October 6, 2021 |

In Brazil, Platts reports Brazilian hydrous ethanol prices in the main center-south region have reached a record high of $730.93 per cubic meter as a trifecta of drivers—growing demand, expectations of higher gasoline prices and low stocks—pushed the fuel above the barrier of 4,000 reals. Prices are up 62% in 2021. Anhydrous ethanol prices are only slightly lower than hydrous, which are also up nearly 58% for the year. Petrobras increased the price of diesel on September 29 but didn’t increase gasoline prices at the time, so the market expects that price increase to come soon.
