In Spain, El Periodico de la Energia reported that Spanish energy company Cepsa’s CEO Maarten Wetselaar, said that the firm will only build plants to produce SAF once there is a regulatory framework for SAF production. “We invest in a business with almost no framework … “We are investing” but “to triple that investment we need a well-designed system, in which stability is almost the most important thing”, the executive said. Last week, Cepsa said it will build a new second-generation (2G) biofuel plant in Palos de la Frontera, Huelva, which will involve an investment of up to $1.07 billion. This new plant, which will be located in the ‘La Rábida’ Energy Park, will produce both renewable diesel and SAF.
